R-2 Sports Day

Tenison
Woods College was a sea of colour as it held its annual
Reception to Year 2 Sports Day recently.
Preparing
for the big day during their Physical Education lessons,
students hit the field in their team colours keen to show
the skills they had learnt in a day of fun and competition.
Determined faces were the order of the day as students
participated in a variety of activities with enthusiastic
cheers from parents, grandparents and friends filling the
air.
With an emphasis on
enjoyment, improving personal
performances, skill development,
fitness
and participation, students still showed each other the
friendly rivalry between the four College Houses; Champagnat,
McAuley, MacKillop and Woods.
The day began with the usual rotation of events as students
tested themselves in a number of fun activities including
the lemon and spoon race, obstacle course, throwing event,
tug of war, rob the nest, tunnel ball and 50 meter sprints.
Tenison Woods College Junior Sports Coordinator,
Grant Lean,
said throughout the day
it was
clear they were very focused on doing their best at each
activity.
“As
students
worked their way through the
various physical challenges, the pride they showed when they
achieved their personal best was a testament to their
positive attitude towards the whole day,” Mr Lean said.
At the
end of the day’s events students enjoyed a barbeque lunch
before going home early for a relaxing afternoon following
an exciting but tiring morning.
