Tenison Woods
College Swimming Carnival 2011
On
Tuesday 15 February, Tenison Woods College held their annual
swimming carnival at the Mount Gambier Aquatic Centre.
In ideal
weather conditions, students filled the centre decked out in
their house colours, and team spirits soon took over the
pool as the championship events began.
The
tradition continued for the Maney Shield which dates back to
the 1970’s and despite tough competition, MacKillop shone
through to take home the shield with a total of 3,406
points.
The final
points tally was:
MacKillop
3406
Woods
3358
Champagnat 3354
McAuley
3156
Tenison
Woods College Sports Coordinator Ciaran Buckley said the
carnival each year provided students with an arena for them
to practice, improve their swimming ability and tackle new
challenges.
“This
year saw a focus on House Spirit and Student Leadership and
it was fantastic to see all the colour and effort students
made to add to the spirit of the day.”
“All
students showed excellent team-spirit and a determination to
be admired.”
“The
participation rate was outstanding and the depth and quality
of the swimming continues to improve.”
“While
there was a strong focus on participation and the spirit of
the day we had some outstanding individual performances.”
