Cat Rescued by
Fire Brigade

A cat trapped in a tree “high as high” above the ground is
counting its lives after it was rescued this morning.
On arrival to school students from Tenison Woods College
heard a cat's "meow" from up the tree, prompting calls to
the fire brigade for help.
A short time later the South Australian Metropolitan Fire
Service arrived on scene and found the kitten wedged high up
in the 53 year old Poplar Tree which lines the College drive
way.
With a crowd of on lookers, members of the Fire Service
donned their safety harness and freed the distressed cat
requiring the assistance of 14 meter fire ladder to bring it
to safety.
Reception
students who witnessed the cats ordeal applauded the brave
efforts of firefighters.
After the mornings rescue Davina Labozzetta's Reception
students returned to the classroom to continue on with the
days learning, however students were too eager to share with
each other their own accounts and interpretations of the
mornings events.
According to reception student Noah Sims the cat was stuck
up the tree for four days.
“It was good to see the fire mrigade (brigade) rescuing it.”
“The cat was high as high and they had to use their ladder
to get to the cat down”
Moments before becoming aware of the rescue effort taking
place right on their doorstep the reception students were
coincidently learning about the letter “C”.
