The library is open for students and staff during recess and lunch during the school week. Please ensure that all borrowing and returning of resources is completed during these times.

Closed during Term and Christmas Holidays


Senior School Student Assignments

Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 8.20am – 8.40am

These are accepted during term in the Flexible Learning Centre. Late bus students must have a “late sticker” in their diary. See "Senior School Assignments Deadline Policy".

Libraries are social, cultural and educational learning spaces that create vibrant links between e-learning, information management, critical literacy and knowledge creation.

The Tenison Woods College Library is a vital partner in the teaching, learning and community service activities of the college and we aim to create avid learners who are information literate and able to access high quality resource based learning experiences.

We aim to provide you with access to information resources, assistance in using them, and the support to enable you to develop the skills needed to fulfil your current and future information needs. Our objective is to provide the best possible library service, and to be responsive, innovative and professional in everything we do.

We are dedicated to meeting your information needs by delivering an extensive range of services in the Library, from our web site, email and telephone enquiry service. We will make available as many resources as possible in various formats to meet your needs, wherever you are located. The Library’s Clients are:

Library Policies

Booking classes or groups into the Library

The library has four teaching areas which may be staff on EdVal. Each area has colour coded computers. Your class will have access only to those computers allocated to that area. Students may upon request use computers in other areas provided they are not in use.

Students are expected to use the library computers for educational purposes only during class times.

Research Area 1

  • seats up to 26 students
  • 7 PC's available for use (Yellow colour coded)

Research Area 2

  • seats up to 26 students
  • 7 PC's available for use (Red colour coded)

Research Area 3

  • seats up to 26 students
  • 6 PC's available for use (Blue colour coded)
  • SmartBoard available for use

Junior Reading Area

  • limited desk space, cushions & mat
  • limited computer access

Staff - to make a booking

All bookings are made using EdVal Whereis system.

Borrowing

Loans

Students - 14 days and 1 extension
Staff – 30 days and 1 extension

Junior School

Reception – maximum of 1 book at a time and must have their book bag with them
Year 1-2 - maximum of 2 books at a time and must have their book bag with them
Year 3-5 – maximum of 3 books

Middle School

Year 6-7 – maximum of 5 books
Year 8-9 – maximum of 5 books

Senior School

Year 10-12 maximum of 10 books

Overdue Items

Students are unable to borrow until all overdue items are returned. Weekly notices are sent to Class and Home Group teachers to alert students to any overdue items. If item/s remain overdue an individual notice is given to the student and then followed by a letter home to parents/caregivers. If the item/s are then not returned they are removed from the student’s record and the cost added to their school fees.

Expectations

Computer and Internet Policy

All Tenison Woods College Library users must abide by the policies set out by the College on computer and internet usage.

Use of Mobile Phones

All students must have their mobile phones switched off and out of sight during school hours. This includes recess and lunch time. Any student seen using a mobile phone between the hours of 8.40am to 3.20pm will have it confiscated by the teacher concerned.

The Library Envirionment

All Library users are expected to respect the Tenison Woods College library as a clean, safe and healthy learning environment.

All library users can assist us by:

  • Treating Library staff courteously and respecting the rights of other library users.
  • Handling all collection resources with care to ensure they will be available for future clients.
  • Adhering to the library use guidelines.
  • Reading and responding to library notices in a timely manner.
  • Letting us know when equipment fails or resources are damaged so we can repair them as quickly as possible.
  • Planning for your information needs in time to obtain the resources you need.

Teaching staff can assist us by:

  • Providing requests for resources to be purchased in a good time to meet your deadlines
  • Providing the library in a timely manner with resource lists for class use and/or subject areas that will be required by students.

Library Client Service Delivery

Tenison Woods College Library staff will be courteous and supportive at all times. We will:

  • Make resources available to all library users in an equitable manner.
  • Provide appropriate technology and work stations to access our resources.
  • Respond promptly to your requests.
  • Listen to your concerns, and take appropriate action.
  • Respect your privacy, and ensure that your borrower details are secure.
  • Communicate with you about our services and plans.
